My quest to figure out how to become a ‘Well Being’ began in earnest in 2004 when my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. This led me down an amazing path of natural healing that I didn’t even know existed. I had been studying Yoga and loved what movement and the breath could do for physical and even emotional ailments such as stress, depression, and anxiety, but Alzheimer’s was clearly out of my realm.
As always, people come into your life when you need them, and that was the case with me. I learned about the concepts of eliminating what is making you sick, cleaning out toxins, giving your body the right nutrients to heal, that our bodies are amazing healing machines, and that almost every thing is curable. It is my hope to share this information with others and to let them know that miracles can and will happen when the stars align and you empower yourself with the sacred knowledge that has been working for centuries and beyond.
Obviously, I am not a doctor and cannot diagnose or treat illness. Western medicine has had some fantastic success stories, and if I’ve just been hit by a bus, I’m probably not going to want someone to brew some tea and throw on a poultice. I would, however, hope that someone would be handy with some cayenne pepper to stop the bleeding until the ambulance arrives!
My credentials: I have been teaching Yoga and presenting at various workshops for over twenty five years. I have a 500 level teaching certificate from Gary Kraftsow, founder of Viniyoga, and a 200 level certificate from Sandra Carden of UNION/YOGA in Traverse City Michigan. Learning more about this incredible tradition has become a passion for me and has taken me all over the country to learn from a variety of teachers including Aadil Palkhivala, Leslie Kaminoff, Doug Keller, Dr. Loren Fishman, and Mukunda Stiles. I have begun sharing what I know in the form of a 200 level teacher training program.
In addition, I have my Family Herbalist Certification from Dr. Christopher’s School of Natural Healing based in Utah. I continue to study, with the intention of completing my Master Herbalist Certification. I present healing workshops in my community in which we make simple home remedies such as teas, tonics and tinctures.
I believe we are on this planet to relieve the suffering of others and that there is no nobler cause. If any of this information is useful to you, please share it with others. As the late Margaret Mead said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that has.”
